N. Lindenhurst man struck by car; driver flees scene

POLICE ASK FOR PUBLIC'S HELP IN APPREHENDING DRIVER

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a North Lindenhurst man that was crossing the street on Tues., March 1. Police gave this account:

The victim, identified as Brian Doherty, was crossing Straight Path in North Lindenhurst at 38th Street when he was struck by a light-colored four-door sedan that was heading northbound on Straight Path at approximately 6:45 p.m. The driver of the sedan fled east on 38th Street and the vehicle may have front-end damage.

Doherty, 41, of 1036 North Clinton Ave., was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center via Suffolk County Police helicopter with non-life-threatening injuries.
