Sunrise Service Road near 231 to be repaired-finally!

Beginning Mon., Aug. 24, the New York State Department of Transportation will be working to repair the two-lane strip of roadway on the north side of sunrise Highway in West Islip near Route 231.

“That strip of road is to say the least a disaster,” said S.C. Leg. Thomas Barraga in announcing the project.

The entire strip will be torn up and replaced with a new road. In addition, the construction will include working to improve drainage in the area. The project is expected to take several weeks to complete.

“Hopefully in the not -too–distant future drivers will enjoy a newly repaired and updated road. Amen,” said Barraga whose office received numerous complaints about the condition of the road.
